November update

Nov 02, 2013 18:11

I know it's early but it's doing double duty for October.

Conventions: We went to Armageddon Melbourne in October and had a fantastic time -- I posted some pics here. I thought that was going to be my last outing for the year, but I've been talked into going to Supanova Brisbane next week (ah, Joe...). I also had a rush of blood to the head and we're going to the Supernatural VanCon next August (we're already going to be in the States for Stargate ChiCon so it's really not much of a stretch to stay an extra week, and I love Canada like
kapuahi loves Hawaii, so it is going to be awesome).

Writing: As I said in the last entry, I have finally finished the twelfth and last chapter of TTT. There are five subchapters so I'll commence posting the last Saturday in November (Friday night for those on the wrong side of the dateline) and we'll lead up to Christmas. I'll also post a brief outline of where the story would go if I ever manage to write the third novel, which is set in 2015-16 (and honestly, that was TEN YEARS in the future when it was plotted). At the moment I'm working hard on the Vegas McShep story for the Fixit Big Bang which is due at the start of February. It's going pretty well, which is a nice change. Consequently, the "Barrayar Expects" space opera is on hold (*sadface*) but that will be my main project for next year. Unless I get sidetracked by the Veronica Mars movie, which is a possibility.

Television: I finished NCIS S10 the week before the S11 premiere so naturally I had to watch it to see how they resolved the cliffhanger ... and then I had to go back again the next week because it was a two-parter. The rest can wait until I get the DVD next year. I got Star Trek Into Darkness on BRD which led to me reading all the Bones/Kirk fic I could find (unfortunately that took me a lot less time than I had expected). Having pretty much exhausted the fics for my other fandoms I was searching for something that had enough material to keep me going for a year or so ... and what fandom is the most prolific at the moment? Yeah, you guessed it. I drank the Supernatural Kool-Aid, so to speak, got the box set and am now up to S6. 54,000 fics on AO3! -- Awesome!! ... except that an awful lot of them are clearly baby's first fanfic -- not so awesome. Oh well. Some of them may improve with practice.

I cannot wait to retire. Work is seriously interfering with my fandom life.
