It's been a busy month at work (one of my colleagues is on extended leave and another has been ill, so the work has piled up) and I've been so exhausted I haven't had the energy to do much apart from reading and watching some DVDs. We should be full strength again from next week though, so maybe I'll actually get something finished by the end of October.
The DVDs I've been watching have been NCIS, seasons 7-10. I am seriously impressed with how good this series is, and how they manage the balance between case-of-the-week and character arcs. I don't think I've ever seen a series where the writing is so consistently good for so long.
HawaiiCon's
Kickstarter project reached almost double their target, and they have an impressive line-up of guests already. Given that they are in Hawaii, it would be lovely to see some of the H50 cast there too (Alex did Moonlight and Grace did BSG and SG1, after all) but they would be filming S5 by then so it might not be possible. I am definitely planning a combined HawaiiCon/SOTB trip next year, though.
Speaking of H50, I'm looking forward to the season premiere later this week and seeing how Steve and Wo Fat escape the Welding Arcs of Doom.
kapuahi is on Oahu at the moment and will be at SOTB so I'm hoping for a quick and dirty summary as soon as the screening is over. The move to Friday night is actually very convenient for me, since it will be Saturday Australian time and I'll be able to hunt files as soon as they're posted. I've no idea if it will help or hurt the show's ratings -- it should help that they aren't up against Castle any more, at least, but apparently Friday night is not a good TV night there. We'll just have to wait and see.
My last con for this year will be
Armageddon in Melbourne next month. Billy Boyd will be there, and I'm really looking forward to seeing his panel and saying hello -- I haven't seen him since the 2007 ORC and he's done such a lot since then, particularly with the band.
