For those of you who don't know yet, the Natural History Museum in Arcata is scheduled to close at the end of August, 2009 because Humboldt State University can't afford it with the budget cuts. Artist statement
Well, I'm getting ready for my first solo show, at Humboldt Herbals starting at next month's Arts!Alive. I'm working on a name for the show so I can make postcards to promote it, and I figure they want an Artist Statement too. Feedback desired!

Figure drawing and comics
You know you're too serious about figure drawing when you read Buck Godot and notice the non-exaggerated features of Louisa dem Five's body: the top edge of the trapezius at her neck, the scapulas, biceps/triceps, elbow bones, etc. Yeah, Phil Foglio has some stylistic quirks about breasts and waists, but the rest of the proportions look spot-on. Death Guild tonight!
Back from Fresno, lots of photo news. I could only get Internet access during class, so no LJ for a couple of weeks. Fresno is very hot. Yosemite was worth seeing, but it's hot too. Busy week with photos
I've been super busy getting ready for my trip. This week I finally started making tie-dyes and setting up a couple of swap meets in the Central Valley where I can sell them. Kiki needs a new home
Several years ago, I was a fan of Sluggy Freelance and bought a plush Kiki the Ferret. She's adorable--but kinda big to keep around when I'm not a fan of the webcomic any more. I know these are in demand, since they're handmade and they tend to sell out, so I figured it would be worth my while to sell this plushie on eBay ( Read more... )
