Perpetual graduate student, female, over 30, seeks Lindy Goth dance partner. Let's have romantic midnight picnics on foggy nights after photographing graveyards or the pulp mill, or walk together on the beach looking for agates after my early morning tidepool photography. I have so many hobbies, I don't know where to keep everything--drawing, ( Read more... )

Hi Beth,

What's your situation as far as possibly hosting us if we drive down early for the con, say Wednesday night or Thursday morning? I only have classes MW so I could leave that night, arrive before midnight, and Erin and I would have a day and a half to explore the Bay Area a little. Ethnic groceries, Cartoon Art Museum, thrifting, that kind of thing.

Also, in case you haven't seen my messages on the Dingbot digests yet, I located a cheaper place to stay less than a mile from the con and operated by the same company. Are you in? Room rates will be $50-77 per night for a room with two double beds. So far, I have Erin, Trouble, and myself. Possibly Trouble's friend the Autowitch, and I've invited Genevieve (aka Maxim) but I don't know if she has other plans.

Anyhow, I look forward to meeting you at the convention!

I sent a reply on the dingbot list, but yeah, I'm all for that. The only things you need to know/be aware of are that as I teach high school, I will be out the door thursday and friday morn by 7 am, and thursday i know i won't be home until after my fencing lesson, so at LEAST 630pm. friday I'll be racing because i wanna get to the con right away!!
Also, as it will be the end of the month and i only get paid once a month, there will prolly be little to less in the way of food in my cupboards, as i will be on the other side of broke.
but as long as you guys can deal with it, i'm absolutely cool with ya'll kicking it in my space.
and no, i have no costuming, and no sewing/creating experience. I will totally be looking for pointers and if you let me borrow stuff i'd love you for ever and ever and ever and ....well, you get it.

See you either @ the con or before it!

Would we need to leave the house when you do? or are you just warning us you will be getting ready in the morning and making noise, rather than hanging out to chat after we wake up?

Every time Erin's visited me, she's brought more produce than we could eat. I can contribute anything else, and bring something for breakfast Thursday. I've been meaning to try out a cinnamon roll recipe...

It would be a wonderful coincidence if you fit my clothes, too. Erin turns out to be similar in size to me and we both have rather large shoulders, so it is easy to lend her stuff. We're both 38-32-40. She's an inch longer between neck and waist than I am. We both wear about a size 9-9.5 shoe.

What's the parking situation, by the way?

My hasband and I live about 4 miles from the Con and we might be able to create some crash space for you and your crew. It would depend on what you were looking for and how many people you are trying to house... We can offer floor space, inflatable matresses and hot showers. But its Free!

Let me know if you are interested.

Also, there's a possibility that Erin and I will need a place to stay Wednesday and Thursday nights. I'm checking with other folks I know, of course, but if those fall through, are you going to be super busy with last minute stuff or could we impose on you? We are both happy to cook dinner and Erin will likely have fresh organic produce from her farm in Orleans.

I look forward to meeting you at the convention. I wish I could make it to the Academy of Sciences, but I'm 300 miles north and busy with school.
