Busy week with photos

I've been super busy getting ready for my trip. This week I finally started making tie-dyes and setting up a couple of swap meets in the Central Valley where I can sell them. (I'm hoping to sell out in Sacramento--their flea market is indoors. Sitting outside all day in a fairgrounds parking lot in Fresno probably has a strong resemblance to Hades.)

However, I'm glad I spent the 4th of July taking photos all day. There was a super low tide (-1.22) around 9:00 a.m. so I went up to False Klamath Cove to photograph tidepool critters. Got a few nice photos, although the ecological balance seems to have shifted from starfish+urchins+critters to seaweed and not that much else. A store owner up in McKinleyville wants to buy cards of my photos and hang prints for sale in her shop. Sweet! After my class, I should be able to tune up my images for best printing. One of my friends who's an artist suggests very strongly I get cards printed on an offset press, but I'd rather have the flexibility of sticking 4x6 prints on cards, at least until I figure out which sell the best. It would be easy to add new designs, too, and lower setup cost. Sorry, I'm too busy to upload photos to show y'all; it always seems to take a while.

Best news of all... I have photos published on the front page of the Arcata Eye. OK, they're a background design element, but they used MY fireworks photos because I had a better location than their staff photographer. Yeah, my photos taken with a $300 consumer camera duct-taped to the tripod because I'd misplaced the tripod quick release plate. Here's an image of my tear sheet: http://arcataeye.com/albums/album13/20070710_G.jpg
