Along with being quite possibly my favorite fanfic author, Refur (kroki_refur on LJ) has hi-fucking-larious recap picspams of Supernatural episodes. Regrettably, she seems to have stopped post-season four, but considering I’ve only been able to commit to one “episode review” that is neither nearly as funny as hers, nor as involved, I won’t complain. She’s awesome, that’s all there is to it.
That shameless girlcrush aside, there are a few recaps I love in particular. Though I will say that they were very hard to choose from. Essentially, my criteria was which ones I reread the most. I still don’t have an exact number or anything-and who knows, I may be wrong with my guesstimation-but as far as I know, these are the three I’ve clicked on with the most frequency, and specific parts that make me giggle or thought-provoke.
The first is from “ Tall Tales,” and it is a tears-of-laughter review for a tears-of-laughter episode. She said absolutely everything I was feeling/thinking while watching the episode, and with better wording, too. Anyway, though I adored the whole review, and it was crazy difficult to pick a single scene, here is one that really stuck out at me (for the record, it’s the scene where Sam and Dean are roughhousing for Sam’s money):
“THEY’RE HUGGING! LOOK! THEY’RE HUGGING!
Yeah, all right, all right, they’re wrestling. But it’s brothertouching! \o/ And it’s hilarious! Oh my God, I love how Sam just totally fails to use his extra reach to his best advantage, like he’s regressed to a stage where Dean was still taller than him. The other times we’ve seen them fight have been very manly and action-movie-ish, but this is just such a couple of bickering kids. *loves more than words can say* Yeah, this episode had a lot of great moments, but this was my favorite.”
Me, too, Refur, me, too. Though, okay, Sam’s “Brave little soldier” speech was a very, very close second.
P.S. Oh, and also? She, too, supports Dean/Lorelai of Gilmore Girls as represented with this line: “I love how torn Dean is. He wants to shag Lauren Graham so much. Why is that, Dean? Is it because you’re called Dean, and your brother was once also called Dean and quite clearly had a thing for Lorelai Gilmore?” THIS MAKES ME HAPPY. Especially since there are so few Dean/Lorelai shippers out there.
Next is from “ What Is and What Should Never Be,” though this one is, in general, way angstier, because, well, dur.
This is in reference to *that scene*, you know the one:
“God, I hate so much that Dean believes his dad wouldn’t hold his happiness to be more important than those people’s lives. And I hate that he’s probably right. And I hate how much hurt there is in his voice in this scene. And in general I hate JA for being so goddamn heart-breaking in his barely-controlled rage/grief. Haaaaate. *bitchface*”
She’s like my braintwin, only wittier and way better at being analytical. Though I gotta say, I had the same thoughts in this scene. Sure, I’m probably more vehement with the “he’s probably right” because I hate John (I may have mentioned this before), but still.
Honorable mention: “Oooh, I forgot to mention that I like that in the dream, Dean has a steady girlfriend rather than being a bachelor. It’s a lovely subtle aspect of Dean to point out, that actually, if he had a chance, he would want to settle down with one girl. *hearts*”
Why do I love this? Because it so reiterates what I’ve always said in response to those Lisa and Dean/Lisa haters, the ones who say Dean’s not a settling-down-with-one-girl-and-a-kid kinda guy. SUCK IT.
Honorable mention deux: “Dear Dean,
Actually, you didn’t stop that plane crash. Sam did. Remember Sam, the brother you’re trying to make it up to? As I recall, you were too busy screaming like a little girl to help. Just saying.

You know why I like this one? Because not only is it true, but it’s-wait for iiiiit-HILARIOUS. And it makes me laugh harder because I picture “Phantom Traveler” and the scene were Dean was, in fact, screaming like a little girl. Oh, Dean. Never change.
Lastly, the review from “ A Very Supernatural Christmas”:
“Also, I love wee!Sam for asking if John’s a spy, and wee!Dean for saying he is.
Dear wee!Sam and Dean,
John Winchester would make a crap spy. Can you see him at an embassy ball? Well, unless he was shooting the guests, of course.

Bah. Bahahahaha. So much love for this. So much. And I also love how she says this later: “Dude, wee!Sam is so wee!Sam. Just look at that face. He’s totally making up for not being called Ridge Canipe. Plus, he can actually act. And you know why? Because I love whenever Colin Ford’s acting ability and how Jared-y and Sam-y he is. That little dude is amazing.
Honorable mention: “Aw, Sam’s laptop still makes weird sparkly noises when it brings up webpages. Given that no computer in real life ever does that ever, I have come to the conclusion that Sam has used his ninja hacking skillz to program the computer to do that, because he loves sparkly noises, because he is a pretty, pretty princess.”
If it weren’t for her pointing them out, I totally would never have noticed that Sam’s laptop does, indeed, make sparkly noises, and THIS AMUSES ME.
Honorable mention deux (in reference to when Sam an Dean are in the motel room, and Dean’s standing in front of that godawful mural: “And that painting? HAH! Teach you to play Thomas Kinkade, Jared, you loser!”
While I thought Jared was good in that movie, I have to say that it was kind of a lame, way too saccharine film in general.
So…wow. I was way more talkative and quoting than I meant to be. I can’t help it. I just love her recaps SFM, and y’all need to check them out NOW. Go ahead, I’ll wait. No, really. DO IT.
