I took my written last night - got the result this morning.

I passed! Who has two thumbs and is a nationally certified EMT-Basic? THIS GUY.

I passed my EMT Class! What this means is only that I'm allowed to take the national certification exams (practical and cognitive). But once I pass those I'll be certified as an EMT-Basic. (I would still need to get a license for practicing in Mass., but this involves paying the State a large sum of money to look at a xerox of my national ( Read more... )

At fucking last! I have achieved my goal of bringing my time on the 500 yard swim (breaststroke, specifically) under 14. Last personal best was 14:02, today I freight-trained a cool 13:55.

I think I will get myself a small reward.

My EMT-Basic course starts a week from this Sunday, at what point am I allowed to have a small, easily-contained meltdown over this fact?

(I think I am excited but it's difficult to discern.)

My mother had her surgery yesterday, and it went well. Doctor removed tumor, assorted extraneous organs (uterus, remaining ovary). My mom will be in the hospital for a few more days and then recover further at home. She may or may not be less cranky, we'll see. I shouldn't begrudge her her crankiness, but she's mean to the dog when she gets ( Read more... )
