I passed my EMT Class! What this means is only that I'm allowed to take the national certification exams (practical and cognitive). But once I pass those I'll be certified as an EMT-Basic. (I would still need to get a license for practicing in Mass., but this involves paying the State a large sum of money to look at a xerox of my national ( Read more... )

You mean everyone else but a couple of stubborn Finns has given up on LJ? Figures.

(Hi, other fandom friend from Finland.)

Congrats on all the good stuff you've achieved lately, and I'm sorry about your mother. Let's hope it's not a fracture.

Not entirely, it just happens there's a stretch of my flist where your entries and ruuger's alternate.

I feel like I have an unusual number of Finnish connections compared to the average US-born American.

I had my work team christmas party on Friday and one of the people there lived in Finland and spent 20 minutes bashing it, so I hope none of them read the comments on your posts to closely :)

Congratulations on passing the EWT, do you have your next big adventure planned out? (I ask so we can all start the count down to the pressure of new years resolutions, I am thinking 'get a cat' for mine).

I know one of my cousins, who was born and raised in Finland, complains about Finland, so there you go.

Well, I need to take the certification exams, and pass them. Then get a learner's permit and a license.

"we're going to call 911 in a little bit"

This is a LOL-ish way to talk about calling EMERGENCY SERVICES!!11!!@@@@!! . Maybe you come by your phlegmatic attitude genetically? :D

Hope your mom recovers quickly from her fall, and that they're right about the non-fracture.

Well she wasn't like ... in deadly peril. Even when she fell and broke her knee/bashed her nose over the summer, the reason dad reluctantly decided to call 911 was because we couldn't move her down the stairs on our own. Dad is not fond of calling EMS.

Yeah, there's definitely a genetic component.

They were wrong, she fractured her hip, the trochanter to be specific (the proximal end of the femur, before the neck of the ball-joint.) Bleh.

Well, crap. That sucks. Is it the sort of thing that can be fixed with casts and resting and such?

Resting, probably. No surgery (when she broke the other hip they had to put pins and crap in it), they did an MRI which has something suspect on it so they're going to have a bunch of doctors look at it and mumble and then decide on a course of action. Regardless, my mom is in the hospital and probably the rehab for a while.
