I was right about The Thing from Another World - unless we ever want to listen to John Carpenter's fanboy commentary (which is on the b/w original version) we will always watch the digitally cleaned version, which is as crisp and clear (particularly the sound) as when it hit the cinema. We had been looking forward to this, despite the bad reviews. Unfortunately, the reviewers were right. The visual imagination is superb, but the pacing is abysmal and the whole thing drags. The dialogue is minimal and none of the actors seem capable of delivering it with any conviction. The sound quality isn't that good, either. After a while ( Read more... )

We have seen odd episodes of this series on Saturday mornings when we happened to be in, and have now picked up the box set.
