I took the day off today because I had a jury summons. I decided that even though I had to spend the time making I sub plans I would take a sick day even if my group wasn't called in for duty. I finished knitting Square Cake bag from Knitty last weekend and put the lining in today. I thought it would be a quick knit, but took at least 5-6 hours of just knitting. I decided, partially from the inspiration of sharmelon , to try to make 50 crafty things in 2008. Now, I don't think this will be too difficult (especially considering I finally decided to take only 1 Master's class this semester). We went out with Barbara and Jason last night and took the opportunity to exchange our gifts. Barbara insisted that we open them immediately, and I'm glad she did. The gave me a carnivorous plant, some strawberry lip gloss and "The Cute Book."

I was very happy to get a refresher lace-making course from my aunt while visiting her in Scotland, especially because the 2 books I have one lace-making are written in an alien language. Before I got started I ordered a fancy new pillow from the UK and spent many hours beading the new bobbins my aunt gave me. I was to lazy to make my own pillow, ( Read more... )

This weekend I've avoiding stuff I have to do, but keeping busy nonetheless. I've been knitting like crazy on Bad Penny while watching some Vincent Price movies (Dragonwyck, Baghdad, and The Three Musketeers). The progress is slow, even though my knitting is becoming significantly faster. This is where I am at so far:

I've been looking for a knitting pattern for a top/sweater and finally decided on Bad Penny from Knitty. Last weekend I kool aid dyed the yarn in pink lemonade and black cherry. It took me about 20 minutes to wind each hank into a lovely center pull ball.
