Cooking, baking, knitting, and other things that end in -ing!

This weekend I've avoiding stuff I have to do, but keeping busy nonetheless. I've been knitting like crazy on Bad Penny while watching some Vincent Price movies (Dragonwyck, Baghdad, and The Three Musketeers). The progress is slow, even though my knitting is becoming significantly faster. This is where I am at so far:

The potato pancakes do look good! I've never made them before.
Sounds like you are cooking up a storm! This weekend we are at Justin's parents, so someone else is doing all of the cooking ;)

Tofu in the cheese sounds like it would work well!
I used to always mix tiny minced carrot pieces into spagetti sauce when I lived with my parents, becuase my dad is so picky about vegetables. You really don't even notice them. Great for veggies you are not to fond of. (Maybe I'll have to try that now with squash, which is supposed to be very good at cancelling out sugar)

Thanks, you should give them a try. It is basically shredded potato, shredded onion, salt pepper, egg, and some pancake/baking mix (or flour).

Lucky you to have someone to cook for you this weekend :D

What do you mean by squash canceling out sugar, I'm interested!

They were talking about it on some show I was watching, about random health benefits of food. They said that squash is really good for cancelling out/counteracting the sugar in your system, not sure how it works!

I've noticed that I've been getting light-headed when I have sugary foods or drinks, and diabetes runs in the family, so I would like to try to work some squash into my diet to help perhaps. (I don't have any of the diabetes or hyperglycemia symptoms, so I don't know what it is)

Is this any kind of squash?

I hope the feeling of being lightheaded isn't serious.

I have told my mom that I want to make an afghan (sp?) this winter~ if I am here for any length of time. It looks simple enough to knit small squares then sew them together. The sweater looks fab... I think the circular needles are more difficult to manuever than the straight ones, but sometimes it is unavoidable & one must use them.

Circulars aren't difficult at all, in fact it is nice because you just keep going around and around and you can knit and never have to purl. I'll keep an eye out for a simple afghan pattern. I find that it is much easier to crochet those, but I haven't knit one before.
