I finished reading the newest Warcraft novel last night: Beyond the Dark Portal by Aaron Rosenberg and Christie Golden. It was really good, and since I've never had the opportunity to play Warcraft II or its expansion, it was a great way to flesh out my knowledge of that time period.

Last night I participated in my very first level 1 raid in WoW. There have been events like this before, where a large number of people roll a brand-new character and then run together to a funny place, usually an enemy capital. My Blood Elf PaladinBlood Knight dinged 40 tonight while killing green whelps in the Swamp of Sorrows. Shortly thereafter she got Artisan Alchemy (leveled to 247 already) and then hearthed to Silvermoon, where she learned to wear plate armor (my first character to do so!) and got to summon her war charger, a fancy brown horse with gold armor. Squee! Someone on the PTR managed to get to Illidan and record a video of the start of the encounter. Obviously one level 70 Blood Elf isn't sufficient to take down the Lord of Outland, even with Akama's help, but after she got one-shotted you can still see Akama fighting Illidan ( Read more... )
