I found my old journal from my first year in college the other day while I was re-arranging a bookshelf. My first entry was the evening my mom dropped me off at college. Yesterday was Jack Kerouac's birthday. When I was in high school I read On The Road and had the same reaction to that book as I did for Catcher in the Rye: So? It's only Tuesday and I have had a shit week.
