Nick and I left the island today and are now at his house in the Twin Cities. We left at 4pm, had dinner at The 502 (the restaurant attached to Chase on the Lake in Walker), and then continued south while Mom and Dad returned to the island for one more day.

In the event, Susan and Patrick's garage door opener broke, and then the failsafe emergency cord broke. So they were stuck for several hours trying to essentially disassemble their garage door in order to get their cars out and return to Madison. Fun times!

1. Work meeting to review changes to our paid time off policy given recent changes in NY state law regarding how paid sick leave is accrued.

2. So much advertising stuff, blargh.

1. Long phone chat with Susan from noon to not-quite-2pm. It was good to catch up!

2. Changed linens. Also rotated my mattress, which I think will help my sleep quality. I try to do that every time I swap my summer blankets for my comforter and vice versa, but I forgot to do that in October and the dents in the mattress were ( Read more... )

I'm still learning how downtown leases work -- it's a little more complicated than Collegetown leases, because if the prospective tenant is not a student, we have to get rental references and do some kind of income check. (Admittedly this is mostly, "Do you have income? Yes? Okay, good," but still.)

1. Attempted to set up seven apartment showing tours in response to inquiries. Of those, only one person responded and showed up. I spent ~30 minutes on the task, and in the process discovered that a few of my squash seeds survived the three-day stretch of hard overnight freezes and managed to sprout.
