If he had still been as infuriated as he had been when first leaving his room, he probably would have done that immediately. Right now, there was a slight delay. Maybe it was just an after effect of...

"Hey! No, Peter, come back! Hey!" he shouted after the boy, getting stalled for a moment by a stairwell door slamming in his face. The stalling didn't help Peter much, however. As Scott wrenched open the door and dashed up the stairs after him, he heard a screech of rubber on linoleum, loud enough that even someone as directionally challenged as Scott could tell where it was coming from - and where its source was probably headed. Sure enough, Scott's flashlight crossed a black mark on the ground when he reached the top, practically an arrow pointing after the sound of retreating footsteps ( ... )

The upstairs hallway was busier than Byrne remembered it being when he was here two nights ago. There wasn't any danger that he could see, however, so he paid the traffic no mind. Now, he and Badd had gone right from here on their travels, going down the east-side hallways. Gren likely had another idea in mind, however.
So once he got out of the stairwell, Byrne stopped and looked over at his traveling companion for guidance. "Alright, where from here?" There was obvious worry showing through his otherwise serious expression, indicating how much he wanted to keep moving. To find Badd before things got worse.

"This way." He pointed off to the left. Hopefully, they'd get further than he had the last few times he'd tried this route.

...and then the intercom came on unexpectedly, causing him to stop and listen for a moment. It was...garbled mumbo-jumbo. How nice. Wait--there was something else. Words. A voice. Oh, it was the General's voice. He didn't sound happy. (Good.) So what was he whining about now?
There's a traitor here. Well who the hell wasn't a traitor here? Unless the speaker was specifically meaning his own allies, and then Byrne felt even more happy to hear that. Maybe some of his underlings were finally getting some damn sense in them! Good for them!
Two of you cannot bring yourselves to give a name. Two of who? Two soldiers, two patients, two ( ... )

Turn the 'traitor' in. Be rewarded for betraying a comrade. The very idea made his stomach twist, and the shake in the hand that was holding the shovel wasn't completely owing to the withdrawal symptoms that were becoming more pronounced as the night wore on.
From the looks of it, Byrne was upset as well--probably worried about his friend and what all of this might mean. "We should keep moving," he said after a moment, after he'd had enough time to clear some of the rage from his thoughts. "Let's try and find your friend."
And then, maybe, he'd go have a talk with that soldier in the Chapel and see just what sort of information he could get out of him.

Rose had hurried up the stairs with Elena close behind, but she felt a moment of relief when they were in the open corridor upstairs, with more room to maneuver, just in case.
Having reached the top, Rose paused for a moment, swinging her flashlight to the right and to the left, trying to get her bearings once more. She'd only been up here once, but the darkness here could be disorienting at times.
"It's off to the right, yes?" she murmured to the other girl. "Past the Sunroom balcony?" That she could see, the corridor off to their right widening, then interrupted by deep darkness that vanished down into the room below them.

It helped, oddly, that it was quiet. Elena heard other patients wandering the hall, heading for the stairs, that sort of thing, but no telling sounds of a fight or a struggle nearby. She just focused on that, for now, as she started the trek along that long hall.

She would have simply left Facilier behind rather than dragged him unwillingly, but Rapunzel knew well enough by now that going anywhere alone at night was a bad idea. Not only would she have not been safe, but Facilier wouldn't have been either. So, even if it took them a while to travel in a pair and with Facilier being difficult, it was for both their benefits that she kept them together as they stepped into the second floor hall.
"Chapel, chapel... Where was that?" Rapunzel said, trying to remember the map she had copied down from the bulletin. Wasn't it supposed to be north somewhere? Right! Just above the cafeteria!
"This way!" she told Facilier, leading him along behind her.

Goku jumped out of the stairwell to find no one waiting for him. Claire was nowhere to be found. He began to sniff the air, but she had left no trace of scent. The smell of blood hit him, though. It wasn't always a good thing, but it sure did lead to some exciting encounters.
It was as good as any route to follow now that he had lost sight of Claire. His sure steps eventually faultered. What if that stench had to do with Claire? Could she be hurt in such a invisibly state? Could she hurt others?
The waddling turned into sprinting as he began calling out for her. "Claire? Claire!"
