Thankfully, the stairwell appeared empty as Gren stepped into it. That didn't mean that there wasn't something lurking somewhere above, of course, but a sweep with his flashlight revealed nothing telling. He glanced back at Byrne to make sure the other man was following. "Looks like we're clear to go," he commented before starting up the stairs.

Byrne nodded his head in recognition, following Gren closely as he ascended the stairs as quickly as he could. Not only was he grateful for the help, he was also grateful that his helper possessed a flashlight. Sneaking around in the dark was nice, but so was having the ability to see when it was necessary. Like here, in a dark, cramped stairwell where a trap could easily be laid out for them.

Fortunately, the way appeared to be clear. Hopefully it was a trend that would continue on their way to finding Badd.
