All of the polling news has been getting me very depressed. On one hand, at least it should motivate the Dems to work harder but one the other hand the news has been making it feel like a hopeless cause. I have a good friend named Kimmy

I heard about this on the news this morning but it doesn't seem to be circulating on the wire yet. The mayor of SF issued an order to the city clerk's office to not discriminate against gender or sexual orientation when issuing marriage licenses thus opening the way for same-sex marriage licenses. I have to admit, I just thought that caucus was another name for election (and that the differences were as significant as say between a state and a commonwealth). I just finished my bookclub book for this month The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I was a little upset because our bookclub has only one rule (no hardback books) and this violated the rule. But, I don't mind anymore because it was such a good read. I think this is my favorite of all our bookclub books ( Read more... )

We saw the Triplets of Belleville last night. It's a French animated movie and it was definitely weird. It was very arty and had virtually no dialogue - but I can't say that I liked it. I think the best description that I heard to sum it up is that it makes Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke) seem mainstream.

So today was my first day back in an office. It was very strange waking up and getting ready but even stranger coming home after dark. The project is a little more involving than I had originally anticipated but it feels good to get my mind going again and thinking about computer problems.
