All of the polling news has been getting me very depressed. On one hand, at least it should motivate the Dems to work harder but one the other hand the news has been making it feel like a hopeless cause. Recently though I've been reading some stuff about the bias of a lot of the polls out there. This guy has posted that a recent Gallop poll has a republican bias of 12%. Of the people they polled 43% were registered Reps and 33% were registered Dems. (For reference, in the 2000 election, 39% of the votes were registered Dems and 35% were registered Reps - yes this can change but it seems highly unlikely that it will change by that much).
http://www.theleftcoaster.com/archives/002881.html The same website also has its own presidential election prediction and it's the first one that I've seen with Kerry ahead in awhile. He uses some of the less biased polls and he reweights others. I glanced at his methodology page but frankly I don't care if he's right or not. It's just nice to see Kerry on top. It gives me some hope.
http://www.mydd.com/outlook/president I signed up this week to write letters for MMOB. You should check it out. It's a good activity that you can do while watching TV or doing laundry. I'm writing to registered voters in Pittsburgh who haven't voted in a long time.

(In case you're wondering, the best news that I heard this week was that the 1st of October is on Friday not Thursday. Now I have an extra day to finish one of my projects at work).
