Well, the fire near Los Alamos is becoming more and more contained - well, at least it isn't growing! How much danger we're in depends upon who you talk to. The US Government swears that all the nuclear waste is safe in underground bunkers but numerous nuclear activists, eye-witnesses, and Democracy Now disagree. I forgot to mention that yesterday we woke to no power and no water. Well, actually, those things go hand in hand. Our water is all pumped from out well and, normally, it is powered by solar, do it doesn't matter. However, at the moment our solar system is being repaired so we are reliant upon the grid to pump our water. And when the grid fails, ( Read more... )

Hi, all!

Here are a few more pics from the camping and UFO watching trip. Andrew and Peter still claim that they saw a lot more (and better) stuff, but I'm okay with what I saw.

So, camping was fun. It was Andrew, Peter, Paula (our WWOOFer), and myself and we went to a site in the San Juan Mountains near Bayfield, CO. Actually we went HERE. It was a gorgeous spot, and we were mostly alone, too.

I've been busy as hell, but not in a bad way. Peter is here and I spent most of my two days off either working (and getting sunburned) or showing Peter around town. Being from Washington state - and having never been out of it - he's amazed by the sun and the landscape here.

A little update from yesterday's post...

Apparently, the body is still there, under the bridge. The trail down to the river (remember it's a 600 foot drop) is deteriorated to the point that it's dangerous (especially to carry stuff), and it was far, far too windy for e helicopter. Well, it finally snowed! Everyone here has been freaking out about the over-long fall (especially for the sake of the Ski Valley) and now the snow is finally here. Meh. Now I have to shovel for Bob.
