Sewing machines?
As in, does anybody know how to work one? Aaages ago now I was given an old electric sewing machine, and always intended to figure out how to use the damn thing and indeed if it works, but never quite got round to it (as you do).

Another simple recipe to blog
Cooked this last night and realised quite how simple it actually is.. I think a veggie version could be done, and would be not unlike leek and potato soup, but with more Stuff in (hmmm, sweet potatoes might be good in such a thing ( Read more... ) -

The joy of random food discoveries.
Roasted lamb chops with garlic and potatoes - need green veg to go with it. Only thing in the fridge is half a pack of spinach that really needs eating. The joy of Google gives me this recipe. LJ geekery question?
Does anyone know if any of the various widgets for backing up your LJ allow you to filter the entries by a particular tag, and back those up selectively? Failing that, can anyone point me at a decent backup tool that they've used?

Cinema - Beowulf
Went to see Beowulf last night with M and was pleasantly surprised - the reviews I'd read were quite lukewarm and I think it may be falling betwen two stools. Literary people won't touch it with a bargepole because "OMG animation!" and "Hollywood!" and the like, and it's far too adult/gory/literary/grim/complicated for the audience of teenagers ( Read more... )
