So...life continues, and with it another election. In short, I was neither surprised nor elated; my overwhelming reaction was "oh thank dog". While I am unhappy with many of Obama's policies, Romney would have been no better in regard to those policies, and struck me as arrogant and morally bankrupt enough to be completely untrustworthy. Hectic...that's how to describe things right now.

My finals went well (finished up with another 4.0 semester), and I was set to head home, when a sudden bit of good news forced me to change my travel plans. Then, a snowstorm forced me to change my travel plans again a few days later! Thank dog I hadn't yet bought tickets in either case...

Parents came to visit, and left Saturday. While it was nice to see them, their visit wasn't a particularly enjoyable one for several reasons. I'm glad it's over, and am hoping the next time I see them, it'll be under happier circumstances ( Read more... )

As I might've mentioned, my mom and stepdad seem to be doing much better these days. They found a cheap but really nice place in an older-living-type community, and seem to have resolved (or are in the process of resolving) many of their issues, both emotional and financial. They'd mentioned possibly coming out here to visit at some point.

 I'm nearing the end of what was originally going to be my first year of grad school. Since I wouldn't be able to graduate this semester (being a whopping one credit hour short) and want to make this degree as worthwhile as possible, I'm going to go for broke (so to speak) and do a second year.
