Parents came to visit, and left Saturday. While it was nice to see them, their visit wasn't a particularly enjoyable one for several reasons. I'm glad it's over, and am hoping the next time I see them, it'll be under happier circumstances ( Read more... )

 I'm nearing the end of what was originally going to be my first year of grad school. Since I wouldn't be able to graduate this semester (being a whopping one credit hour short) and want to make this degree as worthwhile as possible, I'm going to go for broke (so to speak) and do a second year. Classes are seeming to go well, though I feel like none of them have the inherent challenge a few did last semester. The one class I have that would actually be kind of difficult happens to be very closely related to my major, and thus I have a strong understanding of the concepts involved. are over for now, and seem to have gone well. It's a very interesting change here--though maybe this is simply reflective of my particular classes, and not the school as a whole--that I feel that simply studying the material and working hard is generally sufficient to do well in a class.
