Moar fun

Parents came to visit, and left Saturday. While it was nice to see them, their visit wasn't a particularly enjoyable one for several reasons. I'm glad it's over, and am hoping the next time I see them, it'll be under happier circumstances.

Classes are going well, and I don't see them being too much effort as long as I keep on top of things. But keep on top of things, I must...

We've unfortunately had more unpleasant interactions with our "neighbors"--it's gotten worse. They decided that the logical thing to do was get a puppy--she's a friendly, adorable black lab. Unfortunately, she barks and yelps incessantly, to the point that she can be heard even from other buildings. When we spoke with them and told them the continued barking was an issue, they responded by putting dog feces on our walkway (it had bits of grass on it, so it obviously was not just dropped from the source). They've left a note on our door that managed immaturity, rudeness, and hilarity all at once. The body-slamming our door has happened again too. We've filed more complaints, and I suspect they're not going to be around here by the time another month has passed at the rate they're going. Honestly, the only one I feel at all sorry for in this situation is the poor dog, who doesn't know any better and doesn't deserve the irresponsible owners she has. It's especially galling considering that I'm sacrificing dog ownership of my own for the immediate future because I know that fulfilling the responsibilities inherent in doing so are ones I cannot, or will not be able to fulfill right now.

I'm greatly looking forward to heading out of state this weekend! Don't get me wrong, I love where I live now, but the area to which I'm travelling has always held a special significance for me since I was a mere pup of not even one dog-year old; it was where I first saw "real" mountains, and perhaps where my love of exploring the unknown and discovering the high places of the world were born. This'll be my first time revisiting the area (and state) in question in almost two decades!

Lastly, some of you may have heard of a fairly well-known furry who very recently committed suicide. I won't mention his name here, but I believe he was also, shall we say, a true dog lover (I can't recall the exact reasons I suspect him as such, though they were more than just his love of sheppies and feral art). While I don't agree with the way in which he killed himself, it's still horrible he felt he had to end his life, leaving behind surely a great number of grieving friends and family (anyone reading this who may've ever contemplated suicide: please realize that suicide is truly devastating to those you're leaving behind. Your pain may end, but their pain may continue for years to come, if not the rest of their lives. Consider any other option!) RIP... : (
