So.  Just saw the trailer for this year's Doctor Who special: "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe."  (link includes the mini-scene for the charity auction, which was hilarious, and now I'm wondering why it's the straight showrunner who plays up the Doctor's attractiveness)

Amidst all the mess, I have to say, there has been a bright side.

I got me a fractal generator.

(I'm thinking about doing a banner/background with fractals. It so fits the theme.  I've got this gorgeous Julia set I did off a website...)

Today feels like Saturday.  Because every Saturday since April, I've worked from home for half a day, which is what I did today (because Fridays are also half days), and then I went and got a haircut, which I only ever used to do on Saturdays.  Tomorrow will feel like Saturday too.  Which isn't bad.  The world can always use more Saturdays ( Read more... )

Shoo-fly pie is very interesting.  The bottom is gooey, the middle is fluffy, and the top is crumbly.  And it isn't as sweet as you'd expect.  That's probably down to all the molasses.  The recipe I got totals 1 1/2 cups of dark molasses, which is bitter on its own.  And I need a larger pie pan, as mine is 9" and the recipe calls for 10".  I got ( Read more... )

You guys, my balcony looks gorgeous.  I bought some zinnias and violas and some new pots -- the umbrella plant needed a bigger one and I found this great cobalt-blue one with a swirly white floral design, and the other two are cheap ones from Target: magenta and yellow.  The zinnias and the daisy aren't blooming at the moment, and the strawberries ( Read more... )
