You guys, Pauline Baynes passed away.  If you know who that is.  She was the illustrator for C.S. Lewis' Narnia books and several of Tolkien's stories (including Farmer Giles of Ham).  Her illustrated map of Narnia is famous.  One of my childhood memories is when my dad would read us The Chronicles of Narnia before we went to bed, and we'd always ( Read more... )

Saw Prince Caspian and liked it.  Enjoyed the emphasis on the sheer weirdness of coming back to Narnia after a year and finding out that it's actually 1,300.  Really wish the soundtrack composer had come up with some original themes.  I mean, yes, there was the clever bit with Mice's theme being muted trumpets, but most of it was just recycled from ( Read more... )
