You guys, Pauline Baynes passed away.  If you know who that is.  She was the illustrator for C.S. Lewis' Narnia books and several of Tolkien's stories (including Farmer Giles of Ham).  Her illustrated map of Narnia is famous.  One of my childhood memories is when my dad would read us The Chronicles of Narnia before we went to bed, and we'd always have to see the illustration at the beginning of the chapter before he began.  Madame, you will be missed.

In happier news, The Sarah Jane Adventures is coming out on DVD in the States on October 7th, followed by Who Series Four on November 18th.  ::marks calendar::

This weekend has been particularly busy.  Went to the folks' Thursday night, where my mother served us the most wonderful hamburgers ever.  Friday was Geek Night as usual, which was mostly Supernatural season one and the latest Atlantis.  Then yesterday, four of us took a three-hour trip to a wedding (Amy's best friend Devon married Amy's brother Marty, which pretty much made Amy's year), and I mean three hours one way.  One one hand, travelling with my friends made the fact that we were in the car longer than we were at the church far more bearable, as there was much joking and storytelling and singing along with various CDs.  On the other hand, I was the driver (my car was the only one not in dire need of an oil change) and thus today I am tired, stiff, and really really happy to hole up, alone, at home.

I will never be anything but an introvert.

Do you know, the full seven-minute version of the song "Journey of the Sorcerer" is really rather awesome?  It was used for the TV version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy way back in the day, and I became acquainted with it from the H2G2 movie soundtrack.  I thought that snippit was really cool, so I downloaded the original version from iTunes.  It's an instrumental piece, with the lead instrument being banjo, backed by guitar, base, drums, synthesizer, and strings, and it's way fun to listen to.  It's kinda folk, kinda rock, catchy, weird, happy, and thoroughly enjoyable.

I love music like that.

art, narnia, tolkien, tv, busyness, music, doctor who, sci fi
