We went out of town, we ate too much, we had problems with a waitress, we got rained on, we got new clothes, and N. loves the mountains 'so much' that he didn't want to leave. The wedding was terrific. The ceremony itself made me think quite a bit about weddings and marriage and whatnot, about which I'll probably write more later. With some difficulty I have made contact with the ones I am here to see, and I have met many new members of this fascinating tribe. I have eaten some of their strange local food (pizza which folds, and something called 'Caravel Ice Cream Cake'). I travelled extensively on some of the rougher highways - they scrape them with these giant machines ( Read more... )

Safely in Eastern NJ, where I have yet to make contact with my family. The natives here are odd - they react strangely to common utterances such as 'y'all'. There is a craft-and-fabric shop across the street, so perhaps I shall venture over there as time allows tomorrow ( Read more... )

Fun demo - Chow and I did the armour petting zoo along with a new-to-the-area knight named Chad (never did find out if that's his modern or SCA name) who likes purple a lot. Nice guy.
