There's no consistency to the seasons anymore, which is disappointing when you're used to certain things happening and then poof, that stops. Take fall colors. There are still a number of trees that are green. They might be a pale green, but they haven't changed their colors just yet. What a weird past few months it's been. It's almost like someone took the year, copied July and August, stitched them in place of September, then copied November and December and stitched them in place of October and now November. It didn't take a flip of the calendar page to realize it's fall. It's been cool all week. Strange, because last week was nice and warm. We've also had several days of gusty wind, too, so it's not just the air temperature that makes things chilly. We had a cold front come through on Thursday. The morning and early afternoon were pleasant, warm, if a bit windy; I actually had lunch outside on the deck and would have stayed for a while except the paper I was reading kept flopping around. I looked out my window today and noticed the trees across the street are almost fully yellow now. Farther down into another yard, one tree appears to be almost bare. Behind us, a neighbor's tree is mainly muted red/purple, but there's a blazing red/yellow patch toward the bottom. I know not to expect really bright colors this year, but what I've ( Read more... )
