This has been a weird week off, almost reminiscent of camp 2004. That was the year it was barely in the 60s all week, and I was yelling at the kids--most of whom had just been my students--to go put pants on, and some of the would say, we didn't bring any! The change of seasons is always a time of uncertainty as to what you're going to get. We have a fair amount of trees that are still green or only just changing colors, yet we had measurable snow on Tuesday, to where we woke up yesterday morning to a coating of snow on the lawns and roofs. As we're in the director's final summer of conducting, every concert is special in some respect. We had a very, very cold Christmas this year. When I got up on Sunday, it was 0.5F outside. We were lucky and stayed warm, and now we've hit the time to thaw. I excitedly watched my car's temperature gauge on the way to work this morning. By 9:15, it was at 32F. We're at freezing! Hooray!
