It's above freezing!
We had a very, very cold Christmas this year. When I got up on Sunday, it was 0.5F outside. We were lucky and stayed warm, and now we've hit the time to thaw. I excitedly watched my car's temperature gauge on the way to work this morning. By 9:15, it was at 32F. We're at freezing! Hooray! And it kept climbing on my way to work, reaching 36F by the time I got there. Phew. It kept going up another 10 degrees or so as the day went on, and I was pleasantly stunned to look outside at one point and see grass. Grass! There's grass, not snow! I honestly figured we'd be staring at snow for a while given just how cold it was, but the depth wasn't too bad--we're not Buffalo with its 100"+--and when it's that much above freezing, it won't stay solid for long. It's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow, in the 50s, which is vastly warmer than a week ago Thursday. Goodness, what a swing, but I'd rather be on this side of it, for sure.
