The one good thing about my not going to camp this year was that I was available to attend a family party at my cousin's house. Every year, my parents and I have plans for at least one of the two camp weekends. Things have been up in the air with my uncle. He was in the military--I don't know which branch--and is getting buried in a military cemetery. However, there's some sort of waiting period, so even though he died Monday night, his funeral isn't for nearly two weeks. I am so glad I don't live on either coast--the East Coast has Snowpocalypse, with some places having up to 36" of snow, while the West Coast has mudslides. Goody. I have relatives in Southern California, and at one point the house my aunt used to live in (but before she lived there) was on the cover of National Geographic because of a mudslide ( Read more... )

My aunt called last night around nine o'clock. First off, I hate that people think it's okay to call that late. My parents get up early; they're generally in bed and falling asleep at that time. I got an IM from my friend Tim the other night...Monday, in fact, after the most recent weird trip to the grocery store.
