      Arrived at the shop this morning, and while I heard the furnace fan running, it seemed oddly cold in the building.  Once I deactivated the alarm system, I checked the thermostat and sure enough it was cold - down to 53°F!  It didn't take long to find the problem; the thermocouple on the furnace had failed again.  I'll have to check my entries ( Read more... )

     Today has been the coldest day so far this winter, with temperatures dropping to -17°c with a windchill down to -30°c. Granted, it's not officially Winter yet, but with temperatures like this, it's close enough!

     The problem with heating system failures, is that you're not likely to notice them until you need heat.

     The temperature outside wasn't as cold as it's been in the past, but there as a 55km/h wind whipping through the area that made it feel a lot colder.  Adding to the problem is that wind also forces the cold air through the many cracks and gaps in the siding of the house.  It's our plan to have the entire house wrapped in new exterior ( Read more... )
