     One of my friends here in Shaunavon owns a second-hand shop; Mostly there's a lot of junk in there, but there are a few treasures to be found as well.  He had an old Eaton's Fall & Winter Catalog from 1975, and he let me have it for free!  The catalog is darn-near mint, and even has the little mail-in order tags bound into the spine.  I've ( Read more... )

     The last few days have been busy, not that that's anything new.  The bowling-alley was quiet for most of the week, but we had a very good night on Friday thanks to a combination of a 'tween's Birthday-Party, followed by an oil pipe-line crew that came in for a couple hours of bowling and drinking.  We never realized how popular Bud-Light beer ( Read more... )

     Things are slowly getting in gear again at the shop; The Co-op came for their snowblower yesterday, and today I completed the repairs on the two Sears machines.  One was a simple tune-up, but the other needed a new friction wheel and disc, and those parts just arrived earlier this week.  The repairs went a lot easier than I had expected them ( Read more... )

     I got a bit of a shock this morning as I drove to town:  Jack Layton, the leader of the federal New Democratic Party, passed away this morning after a battle with cancer at the age of 61.  The NDP had always been a second-rate party, never having that much clout in national politics, but in the last federal election they sky-rocketed in ( Read more... )
