Busy Week

Wow, the week just flies by so fast you barely have time to figure out what's happening...

Things at the shop have been busy, with the forementioned Kohler engine, and a couple of snow-blowers that have gone out the door.  I'm also trying to get my pre-season order put together for the Briggs & Stratton distributor; The benefit being reduced prices, and not having to pay for anything until June.  If you're really on the ball and get the order submitted in early January, that gives you nearly six months to sell products before you have to worry about paying for them.  I've already got nearly $4,000 on this order, and there's still a fair bit more to go, but I need clarification on some part numbers from the distributor first.

Arrangements have been made to get the roof replaced on the shop, and at the farm.  Both will be replaced with a Forest Green tin roof, and we were able to get a good deal on the pricing thanks to someone else botching up an order, creating a surplus of the coloured tin that we want.  The roof on the farmhouse will run just under $5k, completely installed, and the shop's roof is a little over $9k.  The shop's will be covered by insurance, but the farmhouse is going to be out-of-pocket.  Still, it's a chance to get a really good deal on a new roof, and we need it badly!

I'm going to be in Calgary for most of next week, and Mom's coming back with me to the farm afterwards.  The original plan was for her to stay for at least a week, if not to month's-end, and then take the Greyhound back to Calgary.  However, family events have scuttered that plan, and now I'll be taking her back to Calgary on the 24th, and then we're all (Mom, myself, and my brother) going up to Edmonton for a couple days for a "Celebration of Life" for my aunt who just recently passed away.  The main reason I'm going as well is that this is probably the last chance I'll ever get to see my uncle (my Dad's brother) again.  He's the last living direct relative from Dad's side of the family, so this is pretty important to me.  While it's a bugger than everything is happening all at once, it's better now than later in the season when things will be getting really busy.  It's going to involve a lot of driving though, and Í'm really not looking forward to that.  :/

Now that I've managed to complete the repairs on the Sears machines, I was trying to submit the claims to the online system this afternoon.  I also checked the status of some previous claims, only to discover (much to my annoyance!) that they had been rejected, but that the system never notified me!  They were rejected for excessive mileage, but I phoned and explained that the customer was 111 km away, so two round trips did come out to the 444 km I was claiming.  The system then rejected the re-submittal, saying that it was past the allowable time limit, so they had to re-send the job under a new number, and I had to re-enter all of the data.  At least I'm not the only person having these issues, and it was only for one claim; Another person had to re-do more than 30 claims because of the same sort of problem!  I really hate the online system, and I'm sure I'm not the only one cursing it.  :P

On the lighter side of things, trixstir had a good night at the bowling-alley last night, thanks to the Seniors league, then a Birthday party, and then a small group of guys who came in later in the evening to bowl and drink.  Apparently they had such a good time that they're going to come back with about 15 friends!  I just got off the phone with Trixstir, and she says they haven't shown up yet, so she's hoping they won't come until tomorrow night.  We had a few people in already today apparently, but the more the merrier IMO.

Tomorrow, the Kidling and I are taking the last of the Sears snowblowers back to Swift Current to return it to its owner, and I'll submit another large bill to Sears.  After my chat with them, I'm going to be putting a note on any of the claims that have multiple trips to remind them not to reject them for "excessive mileage" in the future.

Finally, a quick note-to-self...  We opened another round-bale of hay on February 4th.
