     The day started at 6:30am when the alarm clock went off; trixstir  and I needed to get an early start so that we would be in Swift-Current in time for her appointment.  The appointment went well, and the baby is doing fine.  With any luck, the estimates will be correct and by this time next week there will be a new arrival.  We shall see...

     That's darn-near what happened today!  There are incredibly high winds out right now; The wind-speed indicator is saying we has sustained winds of roughly 50kmh, but I know that the gusts are much higher.  There's also a wind-warning in effect, with winds expected to reach 100kmh (62mph) tomorrow!  Yikes!  Even now, Calgary is getting hit with ( Read more... )

The weather forecast this morning was calling for a mixture of sun and clouds, with winds increasing to 50 kmh, and gusting to 70.  They weren't kidding!

I've had sustained winds of over 75 kmh, and I can actually feel the walls of the house moving under the strain from the winds!  Even more worrisome, I can see the part of the roof that ( Read more... )

     The temperature outside wasn't as cold as it's been in the past, but there as a 55km/h wind whipping through the area that made it feel a lot colder.  Adding to the problem is that wind also forces the cold air through the many cracks and gaps in the siding of the house.  It's our plan to have the entire house wrapped in new exterior ( Read more... )

     Well, finally!

I got the last of the connections for the generator hookup done this afternoon, hauled the generator over from the quonset, and tested everything.  I'm very pleased to say that everything worked perfectly!  No blown breakers, no sparks, no screams of panic...  :)
