The day started at 6:30am when the alarm clock went off;
trixstir and I needed to get an early start so that we would be in Swift-Current in time for her appointment. The appointment went well, and the baby is doing fine. With any luck, the estimates will be correct and by this time next week there will be a new arrival. We shall see...
We had to stick around until 3pm to take a tour of the maternity ward at the hospital, and for Trixstir to take a stress-test to make sure everything is going smoothly. The stress-test basically puts a highly sensitive microphone over the baby, and another over her abdomen to test for any contractions. The machine records the fetal heartbeat, and other aspects of mother and baby's health. The machine has both an audible output, and a printed graph that records everything. The only problem is that the test takes 15 minutes or more, and listening to the constant soft thub-thub-thub of the heartbeat can quickly lull one to sleep. :)
The trip home was made through rain and extreme winds; It's not raining here at the moment, but the wind is howling like crazy. On nights like this, it's good to be safely indoors.
