Arrived at the shop this morning, and while I heard the furnace fan running, it seemed oddly cold in the building. Once I deactivated the alarm system, I checked the thermostat and sure enough it was cold - down to 53°F! It didn't take long to find the problem; the thermocouple on the furnace had failed again. I'll have to check my entries here, but I think that thermocouple barely lasted two years, if that!
(Keeeeeripes! is this visual editor pathetic! First it was line-feeds, now they have those working, but the editor drops every second or third character unless I type s-u-p-e-r s-l-o-w... And they wonder why people are leaving in droves! When I joined almost six years ago this place was booming; the editor and interface was quick and easy and had all kinds of useful features. Now, all of their "improvements" have made it slow and buggy, and a pain to use.)
At any rate, thankfully the last time this happened I picked up a spare thermocouple; so once I had confirmed the problem, it only took about 10 minutes to get the heat back on.
