This morning there was frost on my car for the first time this season. It might be time to see if I can get the garage door opener working again so I will start putting the car in the garage.

Often, when I tell people that we are painting over painted paneling, I am asked why we don't just tear down the paneling (this happened last night, which is why I'm thinking about it today). rfunk and I finally finished priming the living room walls Saturday afternoon.

Painting over deeply grooved paneling sucks! But at least it's done now. There has been talk of a second coat, but I hope not. I tried to get the paint as thick and even as I could.

Now I'm off to soak my tired muscles in an Epsom salt bath before finally getting to bed.

I'm much improved today. Still a bit tired and sneezy, but I can live with that.

Yesterday I felt good enough to get more work done on painting the living room. I put a second coat on the trim, put primer on the shelves, and helped rfunk start to prime the walls. We are both ready to have our living room back ( Read more... )

I have the day off for Columbus Day. Last week I decided that now would be a good time to paint the living room, while rfunk's books and movies are still in boxes. We are moving slow, as we are wont to do, but that's okay. The corner molding in the door way was cracked so we decided to replace it. Friday I left work early to drive up to Canton, where I met up with rfunk, and we both headed up to Cleveland to a party given by bec76. This was the first time I have met bec76 outside of LJ-land, and I must say I was quite impressed with her poise and loveliness, not to mention her graciousness in inviting two-almost strangers into her home. I did more kitchen painting yesterday. I painted the 4th wall, opposite the cabinets, a terra cotta orange. Primer and two coats of color. It is nice and warm. In one section of one of the yellow walls I drug a brush with just a little bit of orange paint over the yellow-painted paneling.
