I have lived within a 15 minute drive of Dawes Arboretum for 3 years now, but I have never been…until today. It was a gorgeous day: blue skies, mild temperatures, and the leaves just beginning to change color.

So the bedroom didn’t get painted, but we tackled other projects. I spent about 6 hours gardening yesterday.

I:

- Pulled ivy up out of a 4′ x 6′ area at the back of the house. I’ve been wanting to do that for 2 years. Besides the fact that I just don’t like ivy, it kept growing into the a/c unit, and just had to go.

This morning there was frost on my car for the first time this season. It might be time to see if I can get the garage door opener working again so I will start putting the car in the garage.

rfunk and I finally finished priming the living room walls Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening we went to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D. The 3-D effect further enhances the enthralling visual beauty of the film. I very much enjoyed it. Rob, adorably, spent about half the drive home trying to figure out how the 3-D effect is accomplished ( Read more... )

I decided to take advantage of wonderful weather yesterday--bright blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70's--and weed all the gardens around the house.  I started in the shade garden in the front of the house. This was the easiest garden to weed as I removed all the ivy from it last summer.  It's a pretty peaceful garden.
