Today I opened up the paper to the obituaries, which is my habit because of my job and I'm morbid that way. The first obituary, dead center of the page, was my first love. He was just 50. I wouldn't have known him in a million years from the photo, not because he looked bad, but just because 30 years later, he looked nothing like what I remember.

Today we went to the MFA in Boston to see two exhibits, Goya and Jamie Wyeth. The Goya I was not so intrested in, mostly because I didnt think much of his figures.. or faces, and also because his works seemed SO DARK.. like painted with India ink black. One of the dog walkers who I haven't seen in a while stopped by the other day. He's a nice guy, from 'the old country'. I think he's a native of the Cape Verdian Islands. Anyway, we was telling us how his wife hadn't been feeling well, then he went into how his father came over here and then went back to get him as a baby, but he died on the trip ( Read more... )

I have to say that I cant say enough good things about our Hospice nurse, or the Visiting Nurses that preceded her. In the last 6 months, they have been so helpful, and so supportive. My father was not an easy man to deal with at times, and if he didn't like you, well, you might as well go home. The VNA nurses who first set him up once he got out ( Read more... )

Well, the cook 'out' turned out to be more of a cook in, but we did get enough of a break in the wild weather to get the burgers and dogs done. Ryther's friends from childhood came by, one with his wife and 2 children that we met for the first time (the kids that is). They are 2 and 4. I feel like there are a million things to comment on, but when I sit down at the computer, I am a at a total loss for words.

My father, who had been doing very well to date, has finally begun to feel the effects of the chemo. He has no energy today. I just hope he hasn't caught a cold as well.
