Those dreaded humid days are here. Yuck! It feels like it might be a bit better tonight, hoping tomorrow is dryer.
I'm eating berries and pound cake and whip cream. Oh My.
Well, enough of that. It's been one of those longish days. My father is not doing well. I'm not sure if it's the drugs or him or the heat. He still refuses to have an AC unit put in. He could barely stand up or get back into bed tonight, so I didn't want to leave him alone until my brother got home. I stayed and watched my brother's TV till he got home. At least that way if my father falls out of bed or something, someone is there to help him. I am thinking it's just the meds, but who knows.
Himself wants to go over to see my father, his grandfather. It's very sweet of him. My father has never been a grandfather sadly, so for Himself to even volunteer to do that is great. I don't know if my father will appreciate it as much as I do.
On to less depressing things.
My garden is doing pretty well, although the peppers as stunted. The tomatoes are fine, and they are all mixed together, but the weeks of rain seem to have done a number on the peppers. I got a small summer squash and some beans that I hadn't even noticed before. Yum yum.
Something is eating the leaves on the Brussel sprouts, but they seem to be doing fine otherwise.
My dryer stopped working again. It's not a huge deal, but with the rain, it's a bit of an inconvenience. I'll have to call and get someone to fix it eventually. Luckily my neighbors are on vacation so if I need to, I can use theirs. But the line worked today just fine.
I stopped to talk to my old art teacher a few days ago. I'm really glad I did. He just retired. He wants to enjoy time with his wife while he can. Good for him.
I went to order parts for the riding mowers today. Cross your fingers that the parts actually still exist and that they will be sending them next week. These 20 year old lawn mowers won't last forever if I cant get the parts. But we sure will try. Esp. since a new mower is anywhere from 1 to 2 thousand dollars.
The ants are still marching about the house, although they must be filling up on the boric acid. They seem to die out in one section, but then appear in another.
There is a bill being debated to do something to accommodate trans-gendered people when it comes to bathroom use.(actually I think it's a bill to end discrimination overall) One person's editorial that I read said that the money to make bathrooms accessible would be better spent on reeducation. Well, they called it mental health, but it's reeducation. Anyway, I still find it interesting that European countries can have men and woman use the same facilities, but we Americans can't. I think if they made the stalls so that you couldn't peek over or under, they would solve all the problems. They would become 'private' and you wouldn't care if there was a man or woman in the next one. Why do they do that anyway? Do you really need to be able to look for feet? I don't get it. It's very creepy if you think of it.
Seemed like a had a lot more to blog about, but I guess not.
