Tonight at TKD Master R was noticing his son, E, not putting everything he had into a technique.  So he came up with a scathing yet mostly socially acceptable insult to motivate him:

Master R: "Your Grandma can punch harder than that!"

E: "Um, dad? Grandma is a black belt."

Master R "Well, punch harder anyway!  You get my point!"

Wow.  I can't honestly think of a celebrity death that hit me emotionally, beyond thoughts like "Man, a lot of kids must be devastated about Kurt Cobain" or "Damn, Mother Teresa had an amazing life."  I just don't identify with celebrities enough to feel sorrow at their passing beyond what i'd feel about a friend of a friend.  I have sympathy and ( Read more... )
