Does anyone know how to make inari tofu? They're the thin little pockets of tofu used for making sushi, and taste like they've been marinated in soy sauce or something. I don't know if they're available in my new city, but I'm really craving them ( Read more... )

I'm having a friend over tommorrow and we're planning to attempt making our own sushi rolls.
Problem is, we don't really know what to put in them.

What are some fillings you would suggest?

Also, I have a lot of tofu in the fridge.... What can I do to it before putting it in sushi? I imagine just plain tofu in sushi would be quite boring...

So, I'm in a pickle.
I have everything I need to make delicious sushi, but the grocery store I went to didn't sell bamboo mats. What could I use as an alternative to roll it?

this past saturday, my fabulous housemates and i put on a primarily raw vegan dinner party for our families. we've all been vegan for 10+ years and have been focusing on eating more raw since we moved in together a few months ago, so we wanted to share with our non-veg relatives some of the delicious things that we make around the house.

My friend found her sushi kit and we want to make sushi together tomorrow. I've had vegetarian stuff before, and it had some sort of heavily marinated, very thin strips of tofu in it. It tasted mostly like soy sauce, and was kinda chewy, almost like Tofurky kinda sorta. I don't have any regular tofu, but I do have a box of firm silken I wouldn't ( Read more... )

I saw them before at a restaurant in L.A., whichs name I don't recall, now I've been noticing for a while that rice and pasta makes me sick a lot and was wondering, if anyone knew how to make sushi without rice. I have no clue what to put in them to keep them from falling apart...
