tofu for sushi rolls?

My friend found her sushi kit and we want to make sushi together tomorrow. I've had vegetarian stuff before, and it had some sort of heavily marinated, very thin strips of tofu in it. It tasted mostly like soy sauce, and was kinda chewy, almost like Tofurky kinda sorta. I don't have any regular tofu, but I do have a box of firm silken I wouldn't ( Read more... )

i definitely wouldn't use silken tofu for sushi! too mushy. for chewy tofu, try freezing it (a firmer kind of tofu), then marinating it in something. the sweet tasting tofu in sushi tastes more like teriyaki sauce rather than straght soy sauce.
