The local fast-food chains and retail stores will be taking in new employees in May, to offset their losses as students go on vacation.  Knowing this, should I apply now, and hope I don't end up at the bottom of the pile in two months...or should I apply in late April, and risk that my application will be lost in the rush?

What's the absolute cheapest I can get driving lessons? (In Connecticut, around Waterbury.) Is there any kind of social services to help pay for driving lessons? I don't really think it's worth trying to look for a job, since there's no public transportation for miles around where I live, and I don't know anyone willing to drive me there and back ( Read more... )

So I've become a bit of a night owl in my unemployment--no real reason to get up early, so I don't, and over time my sleep cycle has kind of shifted. I seem to wind up doing most of my job hunting at night, which is making me wonder if employers notice or care what time you send in your cover letter and resume or application. Okay, question. I live in a small town and I can't walk more than maybe two and a half miles in one direction, because the town's bound by highways which are difficult to cross.
