One of the most difficult items of clothing to get right for any SCA outfit is shoes. Period shoes can be had, to be sure, and darkwolfie and I each have a pair of Jorvik boots... but they're brown. They simply will not do with the greyscale Viking outfits I have planned for Twelfth Night.

It looks like it will be a go -- I found six yards of white wool at Martin's House of Cloth on the remnant table, and I just looked in one of my drawers, and I have two pieces of dark charcoal grey wool, one of which is easily 4 yards. I've just about reached the midway point of Stage One of Operation Fix Wolfie's Cloak, aka the Wolfie Cloak Reclaimation Project. I've stitched the outlines of 19 motifs, and one more will bring me to not quite exactly the middle of the strip that I'm going to sew onto the cloak ( Read more... )

I did two more motifs on the cloak tonight -- had I worked on them steadily insead of screwing around online between lengths of thread, I'd have had them done in two, maybe three hours.
