[Despite having decided to go to this party some time ago and having bought a relatively modest dress for the occasion, she still feels a little silly going to any kind of entirely social function.]

[But... with the world being so grim these days, why not try to find a little brightness?]

[So, Priscilla arrives promptly at the start of the party, and immediately gravitates to the phonogram because, hey wait what is that thing?]

[What's this? She's not on the arm of Prince Charming? Helen grins to herself and makes her way towards the other silver-eyed girl. But not before grabbing a drink.]

Looks like you just barely beat me here, Sis.

[Helen tries to snake an arm around Priscilla's shoulders while arching a brow at the music maker.]

[!!!]

[Well! She definitely should have noticed Helen approaching, but she was just so distracted by that little machine, so... okay she jumps a little. Just a little!]

Ah! Oh, Helen. Um. I don't like to be late for things. It's rude.

[She blinks once at that arm-snaking business, but doesn't stop her, anyway.]

Well, there is that.

[She shrugs a little and takes a drink before offering the cup to Priscilla. What, they're half monster already, it's not like they have to be worried about germs.]

But if you'd waited a little longer, he might've already been here to see you walk in in that dress.

[Helen grins a little, full of mischief but nothing cruel this time.]

I would've loved to see that.

[Erika waltzes in, looking quite a bit like she always does: that is, with a ten foot pole up her ass, looking every bit her royal highness with her nose in the air, sniffing for clues like the nosy-parker she really is. The Victorian dress, with flouncing ruffles galore and a cute little hat to boot, only accentuate her dignified demeanor.

The fresh smell of a crime scene just waiting to unfold; she drinks it all in. This, for her, is inebriation; as a detective she's not so stupid as to become completely smashed, hanging lopsidedly over the bar top and drooling like a complete baboon. If anything, later on she'll amuse herself plenty by teasing the poor unfortunates that do get drunk; hair pulling is only the first of many on her charter.

But first... there had better be chopsticks. Or else. A true Japanese wouldn't settle for eating with something so primitive as a fork and a knife. Chopsticks truly were the only way to go.]

WELL HERE IT COMES iwithoutaname February 14 2010, 04:50:09 UTC
[Johan has been living as Ingel on and off for a few weeks now, covering his face with those pretty illusions he's been playing with since his arrival - a little different than himself: the eyes a bit more closely set, wave in the hair, a narrower jaw, a longer nose. It was a pleasant enough face - the kind of face that gets someone access to the upper class areas. The kind of face that makes it easy to find a middle aged couple willing to take him in ( ... )

Don't scream, someone will hear you and then Johan will need to shoot them. iwithoutaname February 14 2010, 05:53:13 UTC
[Light Yagami. Johan sets the glass down, a mild look on his face. Not an uncommon expression, particularly for him.]

[He remembers that name, of course - ah, one of the justice types. Which is interesting really; it wasn't the impression he got from the young man just from his first look. Instead, it had been... something else. Something worth probing?]

[Ah, open it up, see what's inside.]

It's good to meet you, Yagami-san.

[A quick nod to his companion's culture. It's always good to be polite.]

I'm afraid I haven't spend much time on the network, but I'm Ingel. You may remember my recent storytelling post? Well, maybe not. It isn't the most memorable thing that's been talked about there.

[Did she show up? A far better question would be, what could possibly make Helen miss it? There were reasons to have a party, not counting the most obvious about the holiday. There was a missed birthday, not to mention the serious need for a certain Claymore to learn how to have fun.

But not her. That she arrived ready, willing, and able to party was written all over Helen's face. And whatever else wasn't covered by her red and black dress. Hey, the shop that she got it from came highly recommended.

...By Dismas's working class girls.]

Holy crap!

[The exclamation was involuntary, familiar, and right behind her. Adachi wasn't really sure if that was appropriate party wear, but hey, he wasn't going to complain. With a grimace at his own outburst, he stared awkwardly up at the ceiling. ]

I mean, uh, hey. Can I get you a drink?

[Both eyebrows raised at the little outburst, but a glance back over her shoulder was all it took to make Helen smile again.]

Oh, there you are.

[As if she'd been waiting for him, expecting him to show. But why not? It was his birthday that helped set these wheels in motion.]

Sure you can. But only if you get one for yourself too.

[She turned to face him completely, that smile becoming a grin as she reached a hand towards his red tie.]

What a coincidence. We even match.

[Hand. Tie. Touching. Adachi blinked at her for a moment while he waited for his brain to catch up.]

We do? Well, yeah, I guess we do! It wasn't really on purpose- I mean, I didn't know what you were gonna wear, right? Not that it's not nice! You look really- It's um, a neat co-incidence.

[Dammit! And he'd wanted to be smooth tonight, too. Maybe if she hadn't gone and worn that freaking outfit...! Adachi tried not to look too frustrated.]

I-I'll just get those drinks. What'll you have?

[A noble's entrance must be graceful, attract attention and leave the impression that someone important has just granted those around a great privilege of being able to bear witness to such an event. When Byakuya arrives, dressed as he would any shinigami function, every representation of his nobility on and carefully adjusted, grace is not an issue. Attracting attention, however, is not his intention.

He's only here to... why is he here? Even he does not have an answer. It's duty. Yes, that's why. He's here to make sure there is no wandering murderer who might just pluck one from the crowd in their attempts to 'relax'. Someone must be in their right mind.

So he stops, accepting his reason as truth and takes a look around. Ah, perhaps something to eat. His cooking, if it could be considered as such, leaves much to be desired.]

You came.

[It's a statement, not a surprised question, but she does sound like she was a little bit hopeful.]

I was wondering if you'd show up or not. You didn't get dressed up? [Not that that would be expected of someone like Byakuya.

She realizes suddenly that they're standing very near the food, and she blinks down at the table, intrigued by something there.] What is that?

[He glances over at her, rather surprised he's been approached.]

It's not uncommon for me to attend social functions. [His answer is rather absent, his attention on what's caught hers.]

Perhaps you should try it.

[He's surprised? But, why?]

Ah, I see.... huh, do you think so? I guess I could.
