My friend Chris (who lives in Cali) is about to make a trip to Tucson and has agreed to go to St. Mary's Tortilla Factory and buy me 3 dozen large tortillas (they're like 15-16" across according to the lady on the phone) and mail them to me here in Massachusetts. Wednesday at work we had our departmental holiday party. I brought a broccoli casserole which was 90% eaten and some homemade fudge which was about 75% eaten, so I guess I chose well enough. Our friend Katie lives in Boston. Well, in Brookline, but it's close enough. She was in Dan's class in podiatry school and is doing her residency at Beth Israel. Wednesday night I slept really late, like until 3:30 or 4pm. I was just waking up when Dan came in to take an afternoon nap. I decided to stay in and read while he slept because I didn't want to go in the pool and have to deal with drying my hair, and I didn't want to be hot either.

Yesterday we docked a Progresso. I didn't even get off the boat, but Dan did with some others of his family. When he got back on the ship, several of them had bottles of water but only Dan's was inspected. It failed the shake test (being vodka) and was confiscated. Oh well ( Read more... )

Cheryl picked me up at the house on Friday and we drove to the hospital to pick up Dan, who had gotten a ride to work so he could leave his car at home. So we leave today (in a few hours) to fly to Atlanta, from where we will drive, along with much of Dan's family and many of their friends, to Mobile, Alabama and board a ship. His flight was supposed to arrive at 5-something and that would put him on the 5:30 or the 6pm shuttle bus into Framingham (which cuts about 65 hours off of our trip to pick him up, for the low, low cost of $12).
