My uncle Lyle and aunt Marianne live in Rhode Island, only about 40 minutes from here. We've visited them only once since we moved here, which is a shame. I did the dishes and wiped down the counters, finished some laundry, painted the edges of two canvases for the show black (the print of "Being Art" and also "Pixie's Itch" both still had white edges, which is a no-no for hanging in a gallery). The tortillas my friend Chris was sending me from Tucson have arrived! I'm so excited! Tomorrow or the next day I'll make some refried beans and we'll have chimichangas for dinner. Mmmm. So much easier to make with a 15 or 16" tortilla than a 10 or 12" one like the kind you find around here. They're also thinner and don't crack as easily when you ( Read more... )

My friend Chris (who lives in Cali) is about to make a trip to Tucson and has agreed to go to St. Mary's Tortilla Factory and buy me 3 dozen large tortillas (they're like 15-16" across according to the lady on the phone) and mail them to me here in Massachusetts. Wednesday at work we had our departmental holiday party. I brought a broccoli casserole which was 90% eaten and some homemade fudge which was about 75% eaten, so I guess I chose well enough.
