This is how I spent my day not forgetting: I walked. I passed Tanglewood park, where families gathered, cooking on the grill; where neighbors laughed; where children played in the water park. Flags hung outside nearly every house and life unfolded in the brief glances I caught within as it turned to dusk on a peaceful Sunday.

The wildfires are getting more and more out of control. We even had one here in town about 3 miles from where I live but they managed to get it under control. The one in Bastrop (about an hour from me) is nowhere near contained, and the three counties south of me--Grimes, Waller and Leon--all are on fire.
